We are a relatively new family, the M-Gs and so there are few traditions that have been firmly locked in thus far.
But this is what we do every year. Every year, I subject my family to the hell that is the Santa photo.
And the worse the shot is, in some perverse way, the better. I have yet to crack it for the screaming child on Santa's knee pic. Now those are funny.
Invariably, someone doesn't want to be in the shot which means we ALL have to be in it.
Brendon opted to stay out of the shot this year. Piker.
Reflections on our 2011 Santa pic:
– suspicion that my feet are nothing but slabs of ham and also, that I have no discernible ankles now confirmed in one hellish photo
– we are a family of red heads
– also, my children have no eyebrows
– this Santa is my favourite so far. Nothing disturbing going on with the eyes. Well done, Santa.
Tonight, Bren and I will wrap what will amount to all too many presents when the children are still opening them after lunch tomorrow.
Tomorrow, we will eat a traditional roast lunch for Christmas. In 29°C heat. Looking forward to cooking that meal…..
We are going exactly nowhere and seeing exactly no-one. It is just the M-Gs, we four (plus a Little Lady).
We love our extended family but shit, a relaxed day with no expectations or obligations…. can you say perfection?
Merry Christmas, lovelies. Wishing all of you a safe and sparkly day.
Gorgeous photos…Oh one of our main ones is santa photos I was so relieved this year when (other than the first year) there was no screaming, crying, tantrums. She actually willingly went and stood with santa and had her photo and even talked to him. The small things that make me happy I swear I would never see that day. Oh and no creepy santa there are a fair few out there especially when you get the photo ‘free’.
I have to say we love our family but its nice just staying home nothing but playing with new ‘toys’ good food and good times.
Hope you and your little family have a beautiful christmas together, im sure your already looking forward to and dreaming about how good the next christmas will be with your 2 handsome boys and a little princess. All the best for the new year
Right back at ya baby. It’s just us here too although you wouldn’t know it by the obscenely large amount of food taking up space in the fridge.
Well done on the Santa photo – I am gradually working my way out of the frame too but I’ve learned to go dressed as if I’m going to be in it. Got one from a few years back of me looking unmade up and very unfestive while wrangling two tear-stained tots. Ho ho ho!
Wishing you all a happy Christmas! XXX
Those ain’t cankles, dear! Just an optical illusion – a combination of the angle and positioning of legging edge. You look truly lovely.
My girls have invisible eyebrows too (love Luca’s grin, by the way – adorable!).
I commend you for getting the pics done – I have yet to grow a pair so that I can deal with the (guaranteed) misery. Comedy I could handle, but not misery. Maybe next year.
Your plans for the day are the same as ours, and I am beside myself with happiness at the thought. Who needs all that rushing around for other people, anyway? Have a merry one! xxx
That’s such a happy photo. Love the couch! Merry Christmas family M-G’s. Wishing you all love and happiness for the festive season and into 2012.
Aw, sweetness!! I have the same rule about Christmas, that it’s just family time. On Monday, we can see everybody else.
Merry Christmas to the M-Gs!
We’re having a quiet Christmas at home this year too, me, my husband, our 2 boys and my sister and her boyfriend coming over. No Christmas dinner. Just presents, a delicious breakfast, and playing with new toys all day.
The picture came out great. You are all so adorable. I cracked into laughter when I read your reflections for that 2011 Santa picture. I just realized that I should have also done this with my family every year. It would be fun. Anyway, I just want to say Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hope you had a great one.
