It has been one of those beautiful weekends.
Bren works every second Sunday so the weekends when he is home the whole time? Are amazing.
We all feel it.
This morning, Luca lay beside me in bed, just stirring from sleep. Bren and Zig were already up.
"Where's Daddy?" he asked.
"He's in the kitchen with Ziggy."
"Is he going to work?"
"Not today, honey."
"Oh," he said. "Thanks."
We all feel it.
It was a mild, sunny day here in Melbourne. My favourite kind of weather.
There was a spot of floorboard painting to do.
And then, we headed out to a nearby cafe. Looking it up online before we went, I discovered they had a children's menu. This is always a good sign.
When we got there, the waitress immediately set the kids up with colouring books.
Then the boys checked out the two boxes full of toys.
Bren's face is the epitome of surly, I know. You'll just have to trust me when I tell you that he was having a BLAST.
Transformer vs. Daddy. Transformer wins.
We were there for an hour and at no time did things go to shit.
I repeat, nothing went wrong.
It was possibly the best lunch out we have ever had as a family.
The kids were awesome, the food was awesome.
I had bruschetta that BLEW.MY.MIND.
Then I came home and had a little nap. Bliss.
It was one of those days. The days you just think you could burst with the feeling of abundance.
And now, I sit here typing while my smallest child flip flops in my belly, a little goldfish reminder that our bounty is about to increase a thousand fold.
You have to stop and say -"This? Is some good shit."

You may have noticed that I'm entered into a competition called Circle Of Moms Top #25 Aussie Bloggers. There is no prize to be won. I don't anticipate becoming the coolest kid in Blogland. What I would like is further exposure for The Little Mumma blog. I am a writer and I want to be read. Is this a good way to attract new readers? Maybe. It can't hurt. So from now until Dec 8, I will be including a link at the bottom of each post and also on my Facebook page and if you want to vote for me once a day, that would be wonderful. You can do so every 24 hours…or not. Either way, you have my biggest Little Mumma love just for being here. Thank you.
Snap! We had that exact same day!
A local spot for lunch, so kid friendly I wanted to make it my home (it helps that they have amazing food and, you know, chefs – which instantly makes it more appealing than my actual home). And the little one was perfect – she ordered by herself, complete with manners and sitting nicely and EVERYTHING.
Such a good day.
What an awesome snap to have! It was just a good day, huh?
But hang on. Your little lady ordered by herself? With manners? And EVERYTHING?
That’s very, very cool.
Love these days.
Now that equals a day of perfection for me.
Any cafe/restaurant that is child-friendly… ok, they deserve an immediate pass to heaven!
And i’m absolutely LOVING your white floors SICK!!!! DI-freaking-VINE!!!!
AND the little flip-flop goldfish ‘baby in the belly’ reminder…well that just got me all crazy giddy for you all over again. How perfect is your beautiful family 🙂 🙂 🙂
I had one of those blissful weekends as well. Mr Woog just went to bed now and I told him “We had a great day hey!” to which he replied “Every day should be great. Life is to short.” and then I mocked him for sounding like a TV Evangelist. But he was right xx
I work most Sundays so the rare ones off are a gift indeed. There is nothing like working weekends to make you appreciate the ones you don’t have to work.
Sunday is just beginning on my side of the globe. Time to get ready for work. Sigh.
Chilled time at child friendly cafes, without tantrum-y incidents occurring? Heaven. Sounds like it was the cherry on top for you, and I love reading about you having such a wonderful day. I hope you have many more like this. x
Voted….What a beautiful day….and finally – I am loving the painted floorboards. We are building (very soon…..builders are so slow) and I love the look of painted floor boards…so a quick question – what paint are you using? (What level of sheen/gloss etc…)
