Weather Permitting…

I'm just a tiny bit excited about tomorrow. The Little Family M-G are having a little photo shoot with the wonderful photographer, Angie Baxter. She has a great name….

I discovered Angie's work when she took these amazing photos of my beautiful friend, Rae and her darling, handsome son, Jerod.

Truthfully, it's hard to take a bad shot of this crazy beautiful pair! But checking out Angie's website, it was obvious to me that she has a great eye. Below are some of my favourites.

My brief to Angie was simple – I was thinking a park, I was thinking filtered light. Based on that, she suggested a location that she thought would be ideal and locked us in for a 4pm shoot in order to make the most of the gorgeous sunlight at that time of day.

My favourite portrait photography involves a staged scene with real moments. So you might set-dress the scene – with props like balloons or maybe hanging some bunting from a tree – and then let people be themselves within that little scene. Authentic moments captured in a controlled environment. If the kids pull faces, so be it. That's the photo I want – real. Angie is definitely under no obligation to get the on-cue, posey "Cheese!" shot of the four of us.

So, I'm super excited. I have a few little ideas and will take along a few props, and Angie has mentioned she also wants to try out some cute ideas. I think the whole fun of it is to experiment and see what works.

LD wants to take his soccer ball along, too and a towel for having a picmic. No, that's not a typo. Far out, that kid is cute!

We've never had professional shots done. I really can't wait!

I'm praying for a lovely, sunny day tomorrow. It might be a bit chilly but that's okay. We'll all look lovely and rosy-cheeked!

I am also choosing to ignore that both boys are at the tail-end of colds and my skin has broken out. Snot and spots? That's why God invented Photoshop!

Meanwhile, I need my beauty sleep….

Hello friends

I’m Angie!  I mum. I write. I wife. My husband would say this is the correct order.  He’s so neeeedy. I live with my family in Melbourne, Australia, where I complain about the weather for 90% of the year – but I can’t imagine living anywhere else. Except maybe in Lake Como, waving to my neighbours George and Amal each morning.

I’d love to get some professional shots done one day. Not so much of ‘ol me, but of the girls – that’d be lovely.

Thanks, MJ. All day it was overcast but by the afternoon, as it was setting, the sun broke from behind the clouds and I am pretty sure it made from some pretty special lighting.

For sure, getting professional shots of the girls would be lovely but in years to come, you’ll be happy to have shots of ol’ you, too, honey.

    Thanks, blossom. xxx

And that’s a resounding NO to rack shots. Mismatched pair that they currently are, I do not wish to capture this particular moment for posterity.

And yes, there has never been a bad shot of Rae and Jed but those ones are magnificent.
