I have a number of friends whose kids started school for the first time this year. It's been impossible not to get caught up in the excitement and emotion of the time.
And it got me thinking.
Uniforms.
All uniforms are not equal. Are they?
I saw the above picture of Elle MacPherson with her adorable son recently and it occurred to me that I could totally see myself choosing a school based on the uber-cuteness of the uniform.
I know, I know, that's shallow in the extreme. But hello? Look at this kid! Look at that little cap angled just so, sitting all jaunty as hell atop his little noggin! The blazer haphazardly draped over an arm. And the socks. Oh my goodness, those stripey socks! Little red tie? I die.
This is a uniform to be admired.
Whether I can pony up the fees required to send my kids to a school of this uniform-wearing calibre remains to be seen.
But I am now officially on the hunt for a school that offers similar uniform awesomeness.
That kid is totally LD in a few years time. Yes you must find a school with a uniform like this! I love it. Very Gossip Girl.
Yes I love a uniform – particularly a nice private school one. Such a pity my financial status doesn’t allow me to savour that little pleasure!
Noddy’s school has a red and black colour scheme. I saw it as an omen because he likes red and it was also the same colour scheme of my primary school. Uniforms are great! BTW I think LD would look good in anything.
I know, right? Totally LD. I want to cut his hair shorter like this. Totally doing it.
Oooh nice. Black and red is good. Very Xavier College.
I do love a blazer and a cap. Sadly, the Australian sun demands Aussie kids wear those dopey wide-brimmed numbers. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to see LD in a jaunty cap!
And thank you. LD does tend to look ridiculously good in most things. My bias knows no bounds in this regard…..
No not shallow, well if you are, then I am too. I would refuse to send my kids to a school with a totally feral ugly uniform, think bright orange and electric blue combination as one school in Toowoomba had, I kid you not!
Luckily I love my kids uniform otherwise I’d be in trouble…:)
I know I’ve already whinged elsewhere about this, but I’m so jealous of all the friends who have photos of their littlies in their over-sized uniforms on their first day of school.
I’m sad that F’s photos this year will be uniform-less. It’s not quite the same. That first day, in a baggy uniform and shiny black shoes, is such a rite of passage.
LD would totally rock that uniform!
Electric blue and orange? Why? Why do they do this?
A good uniform is a must.
No uniform where you are? Annoying. F would look ridiculous cute in a uniform.
I did get a sense of a uniform when I dressed Luca in grey shorts and a blue polo one day. It was weird. I had to change him immediately. I wasn’t ready…
Ooohhhh yes, you MUST cut LD’s hair like this!!! He would totally rock that look!!!
This is a very, very cool uniform, I do believe it would correlate directly with how much school fees one is paying!!! I do love the fact that Ash’s school has gone back to a more “formal” uniform, can’t wait to put her in her tartan tunic with white shirt in Winter!!! And the boys equally spunky in their white shirts & grey slacks!!!
Tartan tunic! Squeal! Love it.
I would be lying if I said part of the reason we did the school switch one week before starting wasn’t a little bit about the uniform…….
See now that makes sense to me…..
