In the deepest, darkest night, all the world is sleeping like a baby – except for the babies.
Because babies were sent here to torture us and that is the truth that every parent must learn.
Oh, I know, there are some babies who sleep well. Some who sleep through from the second week of life, don'tcha know? And some who were trained to sleep, some who have obviously read The Baby Whisperer and some who wake at 3am and want to play raquet ball.
The thing about about babies is that they're incredibly unreliable and they change the rules all the time.
So everyone must run their own sleeping baby race. Me, I buy the books but don't read them. I seek out advice and then ignore it. I try things and then fail to follow through. I am still breastfeeding a baby (toddler) through the night, co-sleeping and dreaming of an island to live on ALL BY MYSELF.
Though I have often thought wistfully about how life might be different, I don't run a tight ship when it comes to sleeping babies. In the end, I muddle through and reason that this exhausted period is a mere blip on the radar of my life. That is the only choice that sits well with me. As parents, this is the best that we can do.
What I have learnt is there is no miracle solution.
But I like sleeping bags. A baby in a sleeping bag makes sense to me. When Harlow was new to this world, popping her in the Love To Swaddle UP kept her warm, gave her access to her hands but contained the startle reflex which so often wakes an unwrapped baby.
As babes get older, a sleeping bag is particularly awesome. If your baby needs to roll all over the cot a thousand times before falling asleep and then another 500 times whilst asleep, then the old-fashioned blanket is going to be completely hopeless for keeping baby warm. A sleeping bag will stick with your babe, no matter how they rock and roll.
But how to stop baby getting too warm?
Enter the new INVENTA Sleep BagTM by Love To Dream.
Could this be the miracle solution for my sleep-challenged baby?
GTFTS from Angie Maddison on Vimeo.
Okay, so no. The INVENTA Sleep BagTM can not undo 20 months of learned sleep behaviour and it is no match for the stubborn will of my daughter. But I know when she wears it to bed, the reason she wakes is unlikey to be because she is too hot or too cold. I know she is sleeping safely. I know it won't aggravate her excema. Also, the design will tie in nicely with her unofficial room theme of Hot Air Balloons – important.

Zippered air vent is a great idea
I just bought my first love to dream the other day and I’m in love! Love the air vent zipper feature- what clever little people the are! Almost as clever as your little muffin Harlow… If only she would GTFTS!
The air vent is such a great idea. No more worrying about if I picked the right tog sleeping bag for the night 🙂
One feature is easy nappy changing… can I have a baby who lies still for a change like the one in the film please?
Oh my Miss Harlow is a cutie! I’m guessing that she knew she was being filmed? I swear by the Love to Dream Swaddle Up so I must check the sleeping bags out. The 100% natural feature looks good to me too!
I love the air vents. Our house is like a sauna in summer. Anything to make life a little more comfortable for my babies.
