This? Does not happen very often around these parts.
I remember when I was the mother of one toddler. I skipped off to the $2 shop one day and filled my basket with glue and glitter and all manner of crafty things.
Because I had a dream.
The dream involved one on one art sessions with my own little budding Picasso.
What I got was glitter up the wahzoo.
It's never as fun as it looks in those lifestyle blogs….
hahahahhaahaa! it is truly NEVER as fun as it looks! And my kids don’t actually MAKE anything. Just mess. But, I seem to have a sick love of watching them squeeze all the glitter glue into a gluey pile on a piece of paper…..and I persist.
Our craft sessions involve 3 times as much prep as craft. The other day I made paint – MADE paint! From a recipe & everything. I had the entire colour chart from the back of the food dye box in paint. The painting session lasted 1 minute, & that’s only because I forced him to sit there for that minute!
fucking glitter. That is all.
You KNOW I was thinking of you while writing this….
Wow, Trudi! Paint-making! I am impressed. I am sorry to hear you son was not…
I persist, too. But mostly in buying the gear. I buy the gear and then refuse to crack it out for the kids. I believe this is called cruelty.
And yes, never a recognisable thing have either of my sons made. Annoying.
