This is the amazing work of photographer Steve Young.
I can't imagine I would have ever found cause to show you my naked body (31 weeks pregnant or otherwise) before my gorgeous friend took these shots. I think you will agree, they are not your standard maternity pics.
I've been joking on Facebook about showing my boobs but really, if you look at these images and see anything other than the female form represented as art, I'd be very surprised.
I feel powerful and beautiful. Pregnant and sexy.
I believe we can be both.
And so, these photos by the amazing Steve will become one of my most treasured possessions. They are a record of my final pregnancy, of me as a 35-year-old woman, at a time when I stand on the precipice of having it all.
Because that's how I feel. Blessed beyond words.

* Photoshop Disclaimer – in the spirit of sisterhood and transparency, you should know that these photos have been retouched. I asked Steve to keep it to a minimum which he did. Some skin smoothing, a boob lift and balance (particularly in the first shot where the position of my arms meant one breast was higher than the other) and my hips were slimmed by 5%. If these images were to appear in a magazine, there would most likely have been a million alterations including the increasingly popular 'stretching' which would have made me look like I had legs forever. During the shoot, Steve showed me what that would look like on one of the shots and truthfully, I didn't like it…it just wasn't me. So for the most part, this is really me. In awesome lighting. With wings.

Wow wow wow. I have never really liked professional photo’s either – they are usually very cliche but these… these are A.mazing! This is almost an incentive to get pregnant again… just so I can have him photograph me. Almost.

They certainly turned out much better than I could have imagined – it’s nice to view my body and actually LIKE it.
Aren’t they wild? I can’t believe that I don’t hate my body! What’s going on there?
I think pregnancy acts as a veil which helped me nude up and just do it. I can’t imagine I would have felt so comfortable just in my regular nude self.
So yeah, I am pretty proud of how they turned out and wildly grateful I know a professional photographer who asked me to do it!

There’s something about being knocked up and loving your body – I was the same. Would never consider doing something like this normally, but if I’d been approached when pregnant, I’d probably have jumped at the opportunity. I loved my body so much more then.
